Have you just been diagnosed with cancer?
When you have just been diagnosed with cancer you may have a massive amount to think about, hair loss is a big consideration for many people. Trust us when we tell you that you are not alone if the thought of losing your hair is one of the things you are dreading the most. That is why we are here to help you through all the questions you may have and give you lots of ideas and guidance for looking good.
We understand that you may be anxious about hair loss so let’s start by making sure you are clear on how to use this website and our free services to get as much or as little support as you need.
One of the main reasons we started this charity is to help you to understand the hair loss lingo, especially when you have just been diagnosed with cancer. Some people find it easier to read information, others prefer to watch a video or talk one to one. Whatever you prefer we have a range of support to help you.
Where to start? Hair loss does not happen to everyone and if it does, there is plenty that can be done to help you look good. Right now it is important to clarify whether or not hair loss is likely to happen to you so, should you need help, we can find ways to prepare, look good throughout hair loss and take care of new hair as it grows back.
If you already know that your chemotherapy treatment will cause hair loss may we suggest you start by looking at Chemotherapy commonly asked Q&A. This will answer a whole host of thoughts you may have and offer you insights into subjects you may not have thought of.
If you are unsure if your chemotherapy causes hair loss may we kindly suggest that you contact your nurse and find out. Take a look through our section Talking to your medical team for ideas of the type of questions to ask. This is because not all chemotherapy treatments result in hair loss.
We are a charity full of care and support. Many of our team have themselves experienced hair loss during chemo and have now trained to support you.
Have you just been diagnosed with cancer? Drop us an email or call us for a chat or browse on-line. We hope we can offer you support and comfort.
“Most of all, know that my team and I are here to support you”. Jasmin Julia Gupta, Charity Founder/ Director, Clinical & Information Services
