From coronation fun, modest headwear projects to inclusive projects for people with additional needs, the Cancer Hair Care team have been working at the cutting edge of hair loss support in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
The hair loss cancer community has benefited from a series of community events bringing together a diverse range of patients, hairdressers, cancer support and healthcare nurses. Attendees to the events have been sharing their cancer treatment hair loss stories, looking at headwear and wig supplies ,meeting hairdressers and nurses and reflecting on hair loss services, so that together we can shape the future of support for others.
The fantastic response from the community is helping to ensure that Cancer Hair Care can truly reach wider areas of need. Through creativity, tea, chats and hands on workshops a range of new and improved services are being rolled out across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. For example as part of this project we worked with many women from various communities who wear ‘modest’ headwear as part of their cultural or faith commitments. Participants have been trying and testing a number of headwear items that are suitable for hair loss wearers including hijabs for hair loss and easy tie scarves in ethnic styles and patterns.
With thanks to funding that was awarded by BLCF on behalf of London Luton Airport Operations Ltd Community Trust Fund. Thanks also goes to the dedicated volunteer team, fantastic participants and all who have supported.
TOGETHER we are making hair loss one less worry.
