What is a Hair Loss Friendly Spa?

The Hair Loss Friendly Spa campaign aims to help caring spa operators and owners to offer thoughtful touches – such as a wig stand, head scarves and access to specific scalp care guidance to help women with hair loss feel truly welcomed and nurtured.

“When a woman loses her hair it is often a traumatic experience. Left unsupported she can experience image anxiety and isolation. There are many subtle barriers that unintentionally result in women with hair loss not accessing nourishing experiences that could boost their self-confidence.

I’m hoping that spas of all sizes will join us in our vision to ensure every woman with hair loss feels truly nurtured and welcome throughout their spa experience. Together we can make hair loss one less worry” Says Jasmin Julia Gupta – Hair Loss Friendly lead campaigner, Founder of charity service Cancer Hair Care and social enterprise Jasmin’s Hair Share and Twin Hats.

A step ahead in wellness

Piloting in 2019, the Hair Loss Friendly Spa campaign is the first of its kind and will offer its expertise in a bespoke way for the entirety of each guest’s spa journey – from booking through to comprehensive post- treatment support. 

Champneys are a step ahead

Piloting from January 2019 Champneys are one of the first spas to jump on-board is pioneering brand Champneys. Champneys owner and founder Dorothy Purdew OBE explains: “When I discovered this fantastic charity and realised how important their unique approach to supporting women during hair loss due to cancer treatments is, I was immediately inspired to support the pilot scheme by starting it within Champneys spas. I do hope that many other spa groups will also join”
